Diabetes in Europe - an increasing health problem

 The prevalence of diabetes Type 2 is dramatically increasing world-wide, mainly due to a widespread genetic predisposition combined with alterations in life-style. This will impose a major demand on the health-care sector as well as community funding.
The co-ordinator of EUGENE 2, Prof Ulf Smith, who also is the current Vice-President of EASD gave an extensive overview of the global and European situation at a recent EU meeting in Vienna. This presentation can be viewed on the following link:
